Bruce Scammell - Partner
Bruce is based in Poole, has been a Financial Adviser for over 25 years and has expertise in all aspects of mortgages, equity release, investment, protection and retirement planning. He started advising with Legal and General in 1984, rising to Executive Consultant, before becoming an Independent Financial Adviser and Founder member of Bankhall in 1994. In 2004 he became directly authorised by the FSA and created Scammell Associates LLP. He lives locally and enjoys being a prominent member of the local community, being a School Governor since 1995 and has been involved with Hamworthy Football Club since 1980, previously as President and is currently the Chairman.
Keith Balmer - Partner
Keith is also based in Poole, has over 28 years experience in financial services and has been an Independent Financial Adviser since 1996, specialising in wealth management – protecting customers against the unforeseen and managing their investments and pensions. He plays golf (off 14) at Broadstone and plays cricket for Dorset over 50’s.
Colin Mattingly - Partner
Colin is based in Sturminster Marshall and has been in financial services for 36 years both as an adviser, and in management, before becoming an IFA in 1996. He also enjoys playing golf (off 18) but his major passion is for motor sports and he was a founder member of Ringwood Cheetahs who were formed to raise money for youth charities. He is a past chairman of the Life Insurance Association.
Adrian Garside
Adrian is based in Hedge End and works across Hampshire and Wiltshire. He has been a financial adviser since 1988 and has been with Scammell Associates since 2008. He is qualified to advise on care fees planning and has great experience in mortgages and insurance. He is one of very few advisers recommended by Hampshire Trading Standards. He enjoys mountain biking and wild food foraging – mushrooms etc.
John Mist
Based in Wareham, John has had a varied employment history, starting with 10 years in the Aerospace industry as an engineering technician and then moving into sales management, where he ran a very successful branch of a company providing specialist technical support to North Sea oil rigs. In 1988, John joined Legal & General as an adviser in Mortgages, Protection, Investments and Pensions opened his own office in Wareham in 1998 and eventually became independent. John likes to spend as much time as he can with his young family and enjoys reading, the Arts and going to the cinema. He was a founder member and player of the Wareham Cricket Club and now enjoys the sport as a spectator.
Henry Irving
Based in Wareham Henry has been involved in the financial services industry for 35 years. After college, he started at the National Westminster Bank in Carmarthen and by 1985, he was a Corporate Lending manager based in the City of London.
He became a financial adviser and now advises on all aspects of financial services including Mortgages, Business & Personal Protection.
Outside of work, Henry’s interests have centred on Rugby and Golf. He previously played for Llandovery, London Welsh and NatWest Bank RFC but after retiring as a player, became a keen spectator and took up the more sedate game of golf! He says his handicap is his clubs - but admits to playing off 26 for various golf societies, to which he is a member.
Henry’s role for the firm is that of a Mortgage & Pure Protection Adviser, whilst also conducting research and report writing for the practice.
Jamie Sturgess
Jamie is based in Poole and has a background in mortgages, starting out at Nat West as an adviser, then an area manager before moving to GMAC as a sales manager. He joined Scammell Associates in 2008 as a mortgage and protection Specialist. He is a keen football fan and is a coach at Wimborne Town FC and actually has the distinction of scoring for them twice at the old Wembley Stadium playing in the FA Vase Final in 1992 (they won 5-3).
Heather Jones
Heather is our Compliance Consultant and has been in the industry since 1986, working at Albany Life, Manulife and Canada Life in various management positions and was eventually responsible for the training and development of the sales support staff across 22 locations. She is also a health consultant and enjoys gardening and sailing.
Sue Barber
Sue is based at Sturminster Marshall and has been working with by Scammell Associates in a paraplanning role since 2000. She is shortly to become our newest adviser, specialising in mortgages and insurance, having successfully passed all her exams. In her spare time she enjoys kayaking is a member of Poole Harbour Canoe club and is also an enthusiastic track and road cyclist and was club secretary of Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers.
Lisa Hickinbotham
Lisa works at Head Office conducting product research for Bruce and Keith. She is a fitness fiend and most evenings will be found at the gym or at any one of a number of fitness classes she attends.
