In 2002 Bruce Scammell saw the value of having IFA’s work as a team and share expertise, rather than as individuals who met on the golf course every month. Scammell Associates LLP was formed with the original partners, Bruce, Dave Smyth, Colin Mattingly and Keith Balmer.

Since then the partnership has grown with Adrian Garside and John Mist joining as Independent Financial Advisers and Jamie Sturgess and Henry Irving both joining as specialists in mortgages and protection. Soon Sue Barber, one of our paraplanners will join the advising team as well.

The principle is like a co-operative, we all have different strengths and all help each other and there is a spirit of ‘old fashioned’  fairness which we think transfers itself to the way we treat our customers.

One of the benefits, that we hadn’t foreseen is that our combined force makes us able to employ the best external compliance consultants to advise us on our working practices. This benefits you as a customer, because you can be sure we work in the safest way possible.

Over the years, (between us we amass a great many years), we have all worked with and met other professionals in this industry and related industries. It may be that you need help with a survey, or an energy performance certificate, or a will – we will often know someone who can help. It may be that your financial requirements are so specialist that within the practice we can’t help and in these circumstances we will draw in expertise from other local practices.
